Edinburgh Soup Showcasing Awesome Social Projects!

Edinburgh being Edinburgh there is always fantastic events happening all over the city. A couple of weeks ago me and fellow blogger TuggyTucksin luckily discovered an awesome event, Edinburgh Soup. A new event with the aim to fund community projects in Edinburgh. I have always had a soft spot for social enterprise and start-ups giving back to the world in a creative way so I was super excited to check it out!

For a small entry fee of £5 you get a bowl of tasty soup from Union of Genius, listen to some great music from local artists and hear worthy causes in and around Edinburgh needing your support. At the end of the performances from the local artisans, the audience has a chance to vote for the idea they like best and the winner gets the pot of donations! Described as “live crowd funding, a den without dragons for a good cause” – if you are looking for new social enterprises and charities to support, Edinburgh Soup is not to be missed.

This event inspired me to write a post on some of the charities I already support and my favourite one showcased on the night.

Vintage Vibes

Vintage Vibes is a great charity for anyone looking to help out with the elderly and for people who love a good “blether”! Their mission is to help the elderly who are lonely or isolated by encouraging friendships between all generations. Vintage Vibes match their volunteers with the people in need based on their shared interests and hobbies. A great organisation for students who are wanting to gain some practical experience in this area.

Power A Life (PAL)

Power a Life  is a project created by some of my ex classmates from Strathclyde Uni, so one close to my heart. For every “wee PAL” portable charger bought, a child in Africa is provided with a solar light so they can study at night.  PAL has already been able to  help so many  children in Africa and they want to help even more in 2017! It is a great ethical gift for Christmas and for people on who are always on the go. Type “lifewithclarity” when you checkout to  get 10% off your first purchase :)

Empower pants is an awesome project started by MsMissMrs who aim to help girls who have had to live through difficult circumstances. They run development programs across Scotland for women to learn  techniques of self-confidence and to reach their potential. And now they are selling empowerment pants for anyone who needs a reminder they can be their own super hero!

I have previously volunteered with social start-ups that are needing some help with social media and general marketing so please do get in touch if you know any new projects needing a little help and hand. Or if there are projects you would like to share please comment below :)
